I first brought my daughter Tori to Dr Melendez in July of 2004 on the advice of another patient and friend, Amy Causey.  Tori had been diagnosed with urinary reflux when she was a toddler and was afflicted with chronic and recurring bladder infections ever since.  

I originally sought help from conventional medical treatment, which entailed constant antibiotics and the possibility of surgery to correct the problem.  The results were disappointing, we were still dealing recurrent bladder infections…don’t get me started!  

Severe Asthma!

My daughter Sarah was diagnosed with asthma when she was a little over a year old.  She had constant problems with allergies to foods and environment with ear and sinus infections and skin rashes.  An ear infection would take weeks to clear up, and as soon as an infection would clear she would get another a week later.  At 16 months old she had her first hospital stay.  She was completely traumatized, not only emotionally but her body was bombarded by heavy drugs including steroids, antihistamines, antibiotics and heavy drugs used in asthma treatment.  She then went into the hospital every two months, never getting any better.  She was tested for immune deficiency and cystic fibrosis, thankfully both turned out negative, but the trauma of the testing stayed with her for weeks...The only thing that the doctors recommended was constant antibiotics and steroids.  Looking for relief from all the medication and doctors visits we tried chiropractic with Dr. Melendez.  It has been three months since her last hospital visit.  She hasn't had one ear infection, sinus infection or problem with asthma and pneumonia...We are very excited, it is so hard to see your child sick and especially to have them in the hospital.  We are thanking God for the answer to our prayer for an alternative to constant medication, doctor and hospital visits.  We will continue our entire family under chiropractic care, it's definitely a good investment.

Torticollis

I first brought my two-month-old son Noah to see Dr. Melendez after my son was diagnosed with Congenital Torticollis. Since birth, Noah’s head was stuck to the right and he couldn’t hold it upright. My pediatrician wanted me to see a physical therapist who said it would take a year of treatment to fix, with maybe 50% improvement, and no guarantees. That news was very troubling for new parents to hear. At the advice of our good friends, Mark and Desiree Stansell who are long time patients of Dr. Melendez, I opted to bring Noah straight over to see if his pediatric style of chiropractic could help.

Dr. David examined Noah and found a severe atlas subluxation, which he explained probably occurred during the birth process consisting of a difficult c-section of a 9-pound boy.

After Noah’s first adjustment, we could see a dramatic difference in. him. Noah could hold his head straight for the first time since he was born!

Noah is now a normal, thriving, healthy, and happy toddler. We cannot thank everyone at Gold Coast Chiropractic enough!
